KINGSTON, JAMAICA (August 15, 2014) — The Appleton Estate range of premium aged Jamaican rums has collected a number of Double Gold and Gold medals in the recently concluded San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Appleton Estate 21 Year Old Jamaica Rum and Appleton Estate 12 Year Old Jamaica Rum both received Double Gold Medals at the Competition while Appleton Estate Reserve and Appleton Estate V/X Jamaica Rum received Gold Medals.
Entries were evaluated by judging panels comprised of nearly 40 spirits industry experts and led by Anthony Dias Blue, executive director and founder of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Judges were from renowned restaurants and hotels, well-known spirits journalists, spirits buyers for large purveyors and spirits consultants.
“Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum is crafted in the heart of Jamaica by people who have a passion and heritage of making rums of exceptional quality that dates back 265 years. We are honoured that the San Francisco World Spirits Competition has recognized our range of rums with these medals,” said Richard Black – Global Integration Director – Rum at Gruppo Campari, which acquired Appleton Estate’s parent Company, J. Wray & Nephew Limited, in 2012.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the first comprehensive, international spirits judging ever held in the United States on an annual basis. This year was the largest in the competition’s 14-year history with nearly 1,500 entries.
